When a meter+ pike shys away from your fly the third cast, you know you’re in for a tough day. Luckily we had a nice window of opportunity when the fish were active. Besides casting large flies, fishing the Screaming Devil with a baitcaster was also effective.

After sudden night frost we knew that the pike might be weary. We found the key to success soon enough: fish the softbait close to the bottom and keep the pace slower than slow. Well, that worked out well with some good fish for both guests.

As soon as today’s guest ser foot aboard, it was set: we were in for a great day. Not in terms of size or numbers (both a bit under average) but in terms of enjoying our shared passion. Look forward to fishing with you again good man!

With only 20 minutes driving from Amsterdam, it’s tempting to go for me to do a quick pike session if time permits. No, no mosters, but with 16 pike landed it was a golden experience for my guests today. And the last fish was a wonder autumn perch that broke Roberts’ personal record by far.
