If you’ve never tried deep sea fishing, boarding the Anglers Dream is the best way to start. Our family of four had never tried fishing in the ocean before and we were a little concerned about spending a half day on the water without catching anything and coming back a little green around the gills. Boy were we ever wrong. From the minute we left port to the time we got back, we had an amazing time. The four of us caught so many fish that we began to get picky regarding which ones we should keep. We also gave away some of the fish we caught to the crew.
With respect to the crew, Capt Bobby and Mitch, these guys know how to make novices feel comfortable and at ease. They set us up with the equipment gave us a lesson or two and bam… we started reeling them in. When we needed help, they were right there to untangle a line or to whisk away the most recent catch in order to add them to the string of others fish that could not resist our bait.
In regards to the boat, it was big enough for 4 dozen anglers so we had no worries being so far away from shore. Even though there were 6 to 8 foot swells in the gulf of mexico, the size of the boat minimized the motion. As such, we avoided the dreaded hurling over the starboard side.
You can’t beat a half day trip on the Anglers Dream in terms of value; amazing crew, great boat, lots of fish and five hours of fun for a rock bottom price. We’d all sign up for another trip next time we’re in the Tampa Bay area.
