Beschreibung des Ausflugs

Canyon Lake has had many changes this year, creating a difficult environment for anglers, forcing them to adapt or go fishless. With the Big Freeze occurring in February, the bass spawn has been pushed back quite a bit. Me and my clients are catching both spawning and post spawn fish in variable water levels. My latest pattern to catch bigger bass has been to focus on the banks that transition from a sharp drop off to a gradually shallow slope. Access to 30+Ft of water is key and rocky - gravel banks can hold fish. Grass can be beneficial, as long as it isn't too thick. If the grass is tall enough to touch the surface, it is too thick for this pattern. 2-8 foot of water is my area of focus. My best presentation when grass is present is a purple drop shot. Using a 1/4 drop shot weight is perfect with a 2 foot distance from hook to weight. This lets the weight slowly sink in the grass and leave your worm on top of or above the grass. When no grass is present, a natural colored Texas rigged worm with a 1/4-3/8 weight can be quite effective fished close to the bank. Right now this is my juice but it won't last for long! Get out there and fish or book a trip with me quickly, and I will provide you the right equipment and tactics to catch these bass!
