The sheepshead are invading Tampa Bay as they do their annual spawn. These fish make for great eating, they are fun to catch, and they are plentiful right now. When the weather permits we are able to get into the Gulf of Mexico and get to some of the artificial reefs and areas of live "hard bottom" and ledges to catch sheepshead, mangrove snapper, seabass, imperial snapper, lane snapper, and the elusive hogfish! there is also some groupers around these areas, but they are catch and release until June 1.
On the days where we have had a warming trend going on we are able to find some hungry snook, seatrout, and redfish. There is also lots of ladyfish and Jack crevelle in the same areas. These fish make for great catch and release action!
