Flounder fishing has been very good this week! Lots of keepers, plenty of shorts and some nice sized ones in the mix. May is a great time to target flounder in the calm bays behind Atlantic City.

Spring Tog season is quickly coming to a close at the end of April and it was a good month. We caught countless shorts and every charter took home multiple keepers! Up next is Summer Flounder, running from May 2nd until late September, Flounder fishing is one of captain Mike’s personal favorites and it’s sure to be a great season! The recent addition of Minn Kota’s latest and most powerful trolling motor will provide the best possible drifts in any conditions substantially increasing your chance of catching fish! Atlantic City is home to some of the best Flounder Fishing is southern NJ. Our bays are vast, inlet is great and we have plenty of structure on nearby reefs for late season fish. Early in the season the flounder seek out the warmer waters in the back bay and as summer progresses the fish begin shifting to deeper waters of the inlet and eventually offshore. We tend to start fishing the ocean for flounder in late august and early September although it varies yearly. As of now the Water temp is sitting around 55 in the bays. As long as we don’t have any unseasonably late cold spells here in the near future we should get off to a good start as flounder really begin getting active once the water hits 60F. Its Albie Season! False albacore have moved into the nearshore waters and are providing action packed days on the water! Spanish mackerel are also appearing and bluefish are everywhere. Its a great time to go fishing in Atlantic City.

Fishing was nearly on fire before we had several days of south winds that dropped water temps nearly 10 degrees and shut down the bite. BUT the last couple days waters temps are bouncing back some and the bite is picking back up. I fully expect within a couple more days well be back to great fishing

The 2022 NJ Flounder season opened on May 2nd this year and its off to a great start! Plenty of action and keepers coming up on each trip. As our waters continue to warm up in the bay, fishing should only continue to get better.

It was time to fill up the boat again but the ocean was like a lake so after the pump I shot right out of the inlet and made about a 12 mile run up the coast. After a bunch of bluefish, a little more searching and some patience I hit gold with a large school of spanish mackeral busting on bait like crazy!! I casted out the diamond jig and it was on like donkey kong! I caught a quick 3 for dinner and left them biting. The fish are tremendous eating and a bunch of fun to catch. Mixed in with false albacore and bluefish the “nearshore special run and gun trip” is an awesome way to spend a day. Book your trip before this fish move out!
