Plumb underwater structure for local bottom fish including Long-Tail Red Snapper (Onaga) and Short-Tail Red Snapper (Ehu) on a shorter trip.

If you want to spend even less time traveling, explore Hawaii's flats for Bonefish. A half day trip is the perfect introduction to these waters, and you can even try out fly fishing. There’s plenty of inshore action for freshwater fans, too. Largemouth Bass, Peacock Bass, and Channel Catfish can be found in a variety of reservoirs and waterways, with half and full day trips on offer.

Black and Striped Marlin, Spearfish, Bigeye Tuna, Ono (Wahoo), and Mahi Mahi are all amazing in April. On the other end of the scale, this is one of the best months for Hawaii Bass fishing.

Mai

Blue Marlin arrive in a big way in May, joining their Black and Striped cousins for a month of incredible Billfishing. Shortbill Spearfish are also around, so you could be in with a Super Grand Slam!

Juni

The Hawaii Marlin Tournament Series starts in style with the Kona Kickoff and the Firecracker Open. Off the water, the Maui Film Festival is a great place to relax after a hard day at sea.

Juli

Tournament fever burns strong, with the Kona Throw Down and Skins Marlin Derby, not to mention the Blue Marlin World Cup. Check out the Honolulu Ukulele Festival if you get the time.

August

The Kona Shootout Big Game Tournament and Big Island Marlin Tournament give the pro teams no rest in August. Ahi (Yellowfin Tuna) are on fire, and make for the best Tuna fishing Hawaii sees all year.

September

Tournament season draws to a close with Kona’s It’s a Wrap Tournament. The whole state comes alive in an explosion of color during the month-long Aloha Festivals.

Oktober

Want to see Hawaii through the eyes of the locals? Visit the Hawaii International Film Festival to watch locally-made documentaries about island life. Afterward, head offshore for late-season Mahi Mahi action.

November

The fishing tournaments may be over, but the surfers are just getting started. The Vans Triple Crown tournament series kicks off on Oahu’s breathtaking North Shore.

Find the crew at Fire Hatt. They are super professional and friendly. We brought our four- and six-year-olds. They might have been a bit too young. I think it might be better for, maybe, an 8-year-old or 10-year-old. Sean and Jason were great with our little kids, but the boys struggled a bit with four hours on the boat. But, all in all, it was a great experience for the adults.

There is everything here in kona. Shore casting, bottom fishing , wahoo, dorado, tuna, its a heck of a fishing ground. While you cant always target a specific species with absolute success there is always something swimming in the neighborhood.

Captain Mark was a great guide. He was extremely knowledgeable and professional. We took the entire family. The boat was large and comfortable. The rig was heavy enough for a smooth ride, yet fast enough to get out to deep waters quickly. This was a great excursion. Very reasonably priced. Captain Mark showed us a great time! We had the entire extended family in Kona to celebrate my wife's 60th Birthday Party. The husband decided to try catching fresh fish for the Birthday dinner. Captain Harry and Jay were wonderful. They were willing to work with us on scheduling to ensure optimal weather conditions on our trip. They suggested we go out a day earlier than our booked date because the weather for the whole week wasn't looking too good. In addition to catching a skipjack tuna, we had hooked a huge marlin, but we lost it trying to reel it in after a while. They followed their instincts and led us to a successful trip. I would definitely recommend them.

We didn’t have time to swim, but we definitely enjoyed the jacuzzi! But— the highlight of our day was catching two Mahi Mahi to bring home!!
