This was our family’s first deep sea fishing experience, and I have to say it could not have gone better!  As a family of five with three kids (youngest 10), we give all the credit to the crew of the Ruckus: Rubin, Gabe, and Isaac.  They were courteous, patient, and professional…and most importantly, had just as much fun and passion as our family when we got on the fish.

At the outset, they provided great instruction and set practical expectations about what we might, or might not, catch.  They also prepped us ahead of time to come prepared for motion sickness, especially if the seas picked up.  We had relatively good weather, but it did get kind of choppy on the way back to port.

Thanks to the crew’s skill and a little luck, we caught two 60-70 lb Yellowtail Tuna (and a couple small ones that were great for the kids to catch).

Despite some motion sickness for two in our party, it was a fantastic trip that our family will never forget.  Again, thanks to Rubin, Gabe, and Isaac for making it such a great experience!

Had a blast!! We only got 1 fish on our trip….. BUT!!!! It was a great 52 INCH MAHI MAHI/ DOLPHIN!!!! We didn’t weigh it, but it was at least a 30 pounder! AND ITS GOING ON THE WALL!!! CANT WAIT FOR IT TO BE STUFFED AND SHIPPED BACK HOME!!! Best fight ive ever had & I’ve brought in a 32 inch red drum before!! Absolutely highly recommend this boat and crew! Isaac was a awesome deck hand as well! Never got mad or snappy once, was very encouraging with my mom as well! She was very worried she would get sick, and issac just kept telling her how great she was doing!! The absolute best crew I’ve had the pleasure to fish with HANDS DOWN!! They also offer a taxidermy service, they recommend, if you would like to go that route! I definitely did since it was such a great fish and amazing memory to hold on to for the rest of my life with my parents as they get older and older… the captain was awesome as well! I felt bad my 70 yr old father didn’t get a fish and I did… but the captain let my Dad take control of the boat on the way back and he just loved it!! He hasn’t owned a boat in decades and I was so happy to see the captain let my Dad do that, knowing how much he loves boats/ deep sea fishing/ ect.

I’d highly highly recommend this charter & crew to anyone and everyone that is looking to go deep sea fishing on a private charter!!! If I ever come back to Hawaii, I’ll be booking again… If I know/ hear of ANYONE coming to Hawaii… this will be a top recommendation from me for a must do!!!

We knew when booking this trip that it wasn’t the best time of year to be catching fish in Hawaii but we decided to take our chances and enjoy the experience.  We did have a couple on the line and unfortunately weren’t able to keep them on the line - but we able hook some bait mackerel…. “The biggest fish we caught all day…” lol
The day was beautiful on the water and the captain /crew were absolutely the best!! They did everything to locate the fish that were just not running today.  We had a blast and would do it again!!! Wouldn’t try any other charter!!! And will do it again!

We had a BLAST on Ruckus with Captain Dallas and first mate Issac. They were both super chill, helpful, and fun. The boat was comfortable and clean. Issac gave a great explanation of how to sit in the chair and reel in the big fish. He was excited and enthusiastic about fishing, and a lot of fun to chat with. We had a few bites throughout the day, and ended up with a 65lb blue marlin and a 40lb shortbill spear fish! We definitely want to go with this crew again someday!

I let my two boys select a couple excursions in Oahu and this was their top choice.  There are no guarantees when fishing but Captain Reuben and Gabe did everything possible to make sure both boys caught a fish. My oldest caught the first fish, a striped Marlin, and had quite a fight to get him in the boat. What I loved most was when I tried to help my son when he said he couldn’t do it, the captain waved me off and encouraged him to do it on his own. After pulling the fish in, he’s still talking about how he did it days later. My youngest lost a tuna on his first try but ended up bringing in a large tuna an hour later. To say he was excited would be an understatement, but Gabe, the first mate, was almost as excited as we were which made the experience even better. These types of trips are only as good as the crews you are with and I can’t say enough about Reuben and Gabe. As we we’re leaving, by boys even said you need to leave them a good tip and a good review. I hope we did both!
