Speerfischen Angeln in North Carolina
Speerfischen Angeln in North Carolina
With over 13,000 miles of diverse coastline, North Carolina boasts incredible access to shallow inshore waters and the deeper waters of the Atlantic. It’s no surprise that North Carolina’s spearfishing industry is developing rapidly, with such a range of fishing grounds to explore. Hop aboard a spearfishing charter and get your kicks targeting anything from Flounder to Tuna!
What kind of trip is for me?
Hop aboard an inshore spearfishing charter and hit the skinny waters in search of beauties like Flounder, Redfish, Mackerel, Trout, and Seabass. These trips can last anywhere from 4 to 8 hours and are usually the best bet for beginners who want to feel the rush of spearfishing.
A nearshore trip will take you to the reefs up to 20 miles out into the Atlantic, where Snappers, Groupers, and Cobia rub shoulders with some bigger seasonal creatures. You’ll usually need at least 6 hours on the water, with many trips lasting much longer You can indulge in a range of different kinds of fishing to land some delicious creatures.
But the real action is in the deep waters offshore. You’ll need at least a full day to reach the Gulf Stream and the continental shelf, with some trips lasting several days. Experienced spearfishers will relish the chance to go face-to-face with predators like Tuna and Mahi Mahi, and land the catch of a lifetime. You’re welcome to bring a whole group aboard to mix up your spearfishing adventure with some trolling too.
Where to Go
The beauty of fishing and spearfishing in North Carolina is that it’s available all along the Atlantic coast. From the north of the Outer Banks in Wanchese, down to Hatteras, and all the way round to Morehead City and Wilmington, you’ll have a wealth of North Carolina spearfishing charters to take you out to sea.
How to Prepare
Most spearfishing guides in North Carolina also offer other forms of fishing, so you can expect all the amenities you’d get on a regular fishing charter. When heading offshore, you’ll likely be aboard a large offshore sportfishing boat, while inshore trips may take place aboard lighter and smaller vessels.
Wherever you go, though, you’ll need to bring some drinks and snacks with you in order to stay refreshed and energized throughout the day.
You should also check with your captain to see if they provide the spearfishing gear as, more often than not, you’ll need to bring your own. Some captains may also ask you to bring some ID for insurance purposes. But don’t worry – this won’t cost a thing, as your fishing license is covered aboard all NC saltwater fishing charters!
And that’s it. Now you know what you need to do, why not make North Carolina your next destination for a spearfishing adventure?
