Die besten Fliegenfischen Ausflüge in Arkansas

Fliegenfischen Angeln in Arkansas

With almost 10,000 miles of rivers and streams, and thousands of lakes to boot, Arkansas is an angler’s paradise. From the fast-flowing mountain waterways to the calm reservoirs in and around urban areas, there’s something for everyone. Come fly fishing in Arkansas and discover some of the country’s best angling, as you go after prized Trout, Bass, Crappie, and many more!

What to Expect

You’ll have different experiences depending on where you go fly fishing in Arkansas, with a whole range of options available. While the fish remain the same pretty much everywhere across the state, the action changes depending on your location.

Rivers

Even along the same body of water, you’ll see a difference in the fishing. For example, the White River is one of the country’s top streams for fishing. But, spanning over 100 miles, it’s also incredibly diverse. Let the current take your fly as you hit the fast-running streams nearer the mountains, or cast with accuracy in the quieter spots to attract the bite of exciting and delicious Trout.

Brown Trout is common all over the state, with the rivers in the north of the state boasting four kinds – Brook, Rainbow, Cutthroat, and Brown! Hit the Norfork and Spring Rivers for exciting action, with Little Red River offering the chance to land the biggest fish out there.

Lakes

Whether fishing the stocked reservoirs in Little Rock or exploring the pristine lakes in the forests, fly fishing the lakes is always fun. You’ll need to perfect your technique to land that your prized catch, as the calm waters won’t give you a helping hand. Head to the national forests in the west of the state, or Bull Shoals Lake in the north and explore the pristine waters. Hop on a charter or go wading to give yourself the best chance of landing Bass, Walleye, Trout, and Crappie.

How to Prepare

As with everywhere, fly fishing in Arkansas requires the right gear and plenty of skill. If you’re going on an organized trip, check that the guide provides gear or make sure to bring your own. Keep an eye on the weather and dress appropriately, and don’t forget to bring some waders if you fancy getting in the water – it’s highly recommended!

Other than that, make sure to grab your Arkansas fishing license and away you go! “The Natural State” offers some of the country’s best fly fishing opportunities, so why not make it your next destination for a getaway?

Be ready for some great fishing, but the weather will be very unpredictable. We had a lot of rain but I was dressed for it.

Drop shotting with live crickets caught us at least 6 different species of fish. Seeing as I'd never fished this lake before I opted to hire a guide. Another good idea is to question the locals. Local bait shops can provide great references. If you don't have access to a boat there is a good chance the locals can refer you to a good bank fishing spot.

We had a 3 day trip on the lake. Weather was great, but the wind kept us from hitting our spots.
