Just an hour from downtown Houston, Galveston is your gateway to the Gulf. Hop on a Galveston deep sea fishing charter and head offshore to battle the range of prized creatures that this body of water is famous for. From the oil rigs to depths of 1000 feet or more, there’s plenty of space to hunt, with some real trophies on offer.
As little as 20 miles from shore, you can get your hands on monster Cobia, Amberjacks, Sharks, Snappers, and Groupers. However, the further out you go, the bigger they get. Red Snapper season takes place between June and August, so book early to get your hands on this elusive fish.
Head over 40 miles out, and Mahi Mahi, Tuna, and Wahoo are in abundance. Alongside these delicious creatures, you’ll also get to target Blue and White Marlin and Sailfish. If you go even further, there’s the chance to do some deep dropping to land Swordfish and Tilefish too.
Deep sea fishing is possible year-round in Galveston, but come in summer for your pick of the action, when all the fish are biting. Trips tend to start at 10 hours before going up to multiple days on the water to give you the chance to land a real mixed bag. Just make sure to grab a Texas saltwater fishing license, and away you go for the fishing trip of a lifetime!
