It was a great trip with my girlfriend and my 7 year old daughter. We reserved a 6:30am 4 hour trip but the captain and his staff were backed up because of some weather issues in the preceding days. We ended up going out at 9am for a 4 hour trip. We tried to get some Spanish Mackeral by trot lining on the way out. They were jumping and their activity was high, we just couldn’t get them to bite. Next we headed out past the bay and were immediately on the Red Snapper. We “limited” out (two Red Snapper/fisherman) in the matter of 45 minutes. It was easy fishing, but extremely fun. Our captain for the day, Kieth, did a great job at teaching us the technique. We tried to catch some trigger fish and grouper, and had the opportunity, we just couldn’t get them to latch onto the hook.
Kieth did a great job for us, and was very friendly and informative. The booking, includes fileting of all the fish you catch, which is a nice touch.
It did start to get hot during our trip, I would recommend trying to book times as early as possible to try and avoid the heat. The boat is perfect for fishing, but their isn’t a lot of protection from the sun, so wear lots of sunscreen and bring plenty of fluids to stay hydrated.
Overall, I would definitely book with Emerald “C” Fishing Charters. Our captain Kieth and the owner Craig did a great job at communicating prior to the trip in order to facilitate a new start time.
