Our crew were great guys, constantly working to try and catch a marlin/sail for us. We didn’t have any luck with billfish, but did catch a few barracuda as expected in these waters, and one Mahi. Would definitely give them a try!
A really lovely day onboard Lucky Strike. We booked a half days fishing. The process was super easy and as soon as we reached Captain Mikes we were boarded and set off. We had a quick but thorough safety briefing and headed out. There were drinks (soft and beer) for us to help ourselves too. The captain and crewman were constantly scouring the horizon and changing baits and lines to give us the best chance of a good result. Thank goodness we got a bite in the final hour and landed a fish. They were full of knowledge and were brilliant with the kids showing them what to do and letting them do it. Will definitely book again on our next trip.

Our day kicked off with sunny weather and calm seas with Captain Howard and first mate, Brandon. As we moved farther out to sea, the waves kicked up and caused some of us to get sick. While this was no fault of the crew as they cannot control nature, it did affect how energetic we were to catch fish. We did catch a small (15 inch) ocean fish ( I can’t tell you the name although Brandon knew all the fishes) and a Mahi Mahi (about 18 lbs). Most of the time, the crew will filet the fish and allow you to bring it back to the resort for the chefs to cook it for dinner, however, since we were staying in Sandals Halcyon, the resort does not accept any foods off the premises due to Covid precautions. In retrospect, we should have released the catch back into the ocean. We tried to share it with Brandon or Howard yet they were not able to enjoy the fish due to Captain Mike’s strict rules. Any catch not claimed is resold for the profit of Captain Mike’s business. All in all, it was a good day to enjoy the ocean, drink several Piton beers, and watch Brandon work all 7 fishing lines repeatedly. In reality, Brandon tried his very best to help us catch fish but as he stated at the beginning of our trip, “this is a fishing trip, not always a catching trip.” Well said, Brandon. Thank you Brandon and Howard for our day at sea.
