Had a great trip.fish were not biting. But we finally landed one. Overall a great time. Jay had lots of great stories and took good care of us. Definitely will do it again
Perhaps we got spoiled a bit since my grandson myself and Captain Jay were the only ones onboard, but I believe that it would have been very similar even if we had a full boat since Captain Jay is such a personable and knowledgeable host/guide. While the water had some small swells, it was still quite a comfortable trip and Captain Jay took time to tell us about the lake, the fish species and the various equipment on the boat. My grandson first caught a very small Salmon which was returned to grow bigger. Then we had a strike by a (approx) 16 pounder. The excitement in my grandson’s eyes and watching him battle to bring in the 330 feet of line was priceless, not to mention a good workout for his arms. Captain Jay provided him with a belt to hold the butt-end of the rod to make it easier for him all-the-while encouraging him. It was truly a memorable day for both myself and my avid 14-yer-old fisherman grandson. One that I’m sure he won’t soon forget. I would highly recommend Captain Jay Wilson’s charter.

Capt. Jay, the jocular, veteran captain( approx. age 60) and his frenetic, talkative sidekick, 30-yr-old Brandon are truly an “odd couple” and a total joy to spend time with catching fish in Lake Ontario! Their constant banter and repartee makes for a fun time no matter how rough the waves. These two, employer and employee, are obviously also great friends and have the knowledge and skills to put you on the fish no matter how uncooperative the fish are. Our largest Chinook was nicely over 20 lbs.. “Big Bubba,” a large and wicked-looking knife, was produced to cut the attached lamprey in half and pitch it over the side. It as later used to expertly fillet the fish by the deckhand and talented fishing instructor, Brandon. One word of caution: do NOT bring bananas in your on-board lunch! Apparently, they are bad luck.

Captain Jay and Brandon are the best hosts you could possibly have out on the water. Amazing knowledge, loads of great stories, tips and tricks and hands down 2 of the nicest guys you’ll meet on any dock. We spent a beautiful morning out with them and they made sure to do everything they could to put us on the fish. We may have only landed one but we’re still talking about how much fun we had with Taymo and we cannot wait to go back out with them again. Captain Jay kept us smiling all day and Brandon taught us anything and everything we wanted to know about big lake fishing. We learned more in a few hours than we could have ever hoped for and we will 100% be back next year for another trip. I cannot recommend Taymo charters enough.
Thanks Captain Jay and Brandon!

two grandsons, one love of fishing - other (FORGET IT) 6 hours crazy grandma. WELL! these photos show the story…. first caught by Casey and released; second by Jansen his face shows his dislike was released. THEN Grandma caught a 20 pounder brought in with help of course. After a long wait BANG Jansens line and “Grandma it is a big one BIGGER than yours”. He learned to work the rod and did most of it himself 21 pounder He was just happy to beat Grandma. JAY was terrific teaching these boys and now we have a confirmed fisherman. Grandma is an experienced fisherwoman from Northern Ontario so found the boat quite suitable and totally what was expected; not luxurious but has all the necessities needed and the experience and helpfulness of the Captain is super. Grandpa was along but the strong silent type who just enjoys. There is even a bed if boredom sets in while fish rest for a bit. Jay has patience beyond belief with two boys and constant chatter from grandma and questions from the boys. This trip was therapy for grandma and excitement and introduction to another part of life for the boys. Would highy recommend Taymo Charters anyday anytime.
