Yesterday we welcomed our good friends Ali MacLeod & Carl Hardie aboard the 'Good Day' for a full day inshore fishing charter. Our target for the day was to try & catch a Big Snook or Roosterfish. After collecting some Sardine & Blue Runner live baits we headed up the Coast to the Paritta rivermouth. The water looked great with a nice brown/blue Colour change to fish where the river met the sea. We had a great bite no sooner had our first Sardine hit the water but that proved to be our only action here so we changed location & headed to the Naranjo area where we stumbled upon a Shrimp boat which provided us with an excellent couple of hours sport as we landed 10 big Jack Cravelle's on Jigs, Poppers & live baits.
After our arms had taken enough beating from the Jacks we headed into the rocks in search of a Roosterfish. Whilst we couldn't find a Rooster we did get a really nice surprise when a very rare fish in Costa Rica, a Bluefin Travelly smashed one of our livebaits & the 20lb fish proved to be the highlight of the day. We spent a couple of hours at the Naranjo rivermouth targeting the big Snook that this spot is famous for but we had no luck on this occasion. We fished hard all day, live baiting, jigging & popping and caught a couple of needlefish to finish off the day.
We will be back out with Ali again tomorrow for an offshore trip to target Yellow Fin Tuna, Sailfish & Marlin, looking forward to it!!
