What would you recommend to anglers fishing in Minocqua, Wisconsin for the first time?

Fishing is always part skill and part luck. Weather often plays an important role in whether the day is set for success or not. Even then, fishing may be hot or cold. I always approach a fishing day anywhere as this...a bad day fishing always beats a good day at work! Go with lower expectations and enjoy life!

Bring a rain outfit because fishing in the rain is no fun without rain gear. Dave had an extra outfit for me, so I was dry and warm. If it is sunny bring sunscreen!

Get a guide to show you the lake and transfer knowledge early in the trip. Use what they recommend regarding bait, tackle, and technique.

Go for the fish that are in "season." Water temps make a big difference for game fish. Do your research before you book your trip.

We fish the weed beds on the north side of the lake and the drop offs, depending on what we are fishing for. Lots of pike, landed a 36", in 2015.

Dress warm and be ready to have a great time! Keep your eye out for the beautiful bald eagles!
