The fishing in Islamorada in June is great in the backcountry and average for Tarpon. The Tarpon bite is mostly for local resident tarpon with the migrating tarpon already being done. Overall an amazing fishery. The shrimp availability was low which definitely impacts the guides.

Islamorada is expensive. Tarpon fishing is hours of boredom followed by unbelievable excitement if you are lucky enough to hook one up. Listen closely to your captain. This type of fishing is different than any I've done before, and I've been fishing for 60 years. I most certainly want to try again.

Fishing in Islamorada was terrific. Plenty of areas to target. There is a great patch reef area for fishing with the smaller children. Grouper, snapper. Action was cool and within sight of the beach.
Capt Paul was terrific.

Take some seasick pills. lol. Catptain Troy and mate, James are wonderful people and fun to fish with. Enjoy!

Book this trip if you want to experience the thrill of the big tug! The caption was great with my 2 sons and kept them wore out tugging big fish in all day! Highly recommended!
Teresa Dickinson
The 2 hour trip was great if you are short on time and want to get in the highlights. It goes by fast when you are having fun, so we did wish we booked the 4 hour once we were out there.
Peter Turcik
Trust the captain on what kind of fish to target. If you try to pick one species you might spend a whole day and not catch much. Be flexible
Tracey Gergen
Weather was beautiful & water gorgeous. We enjoyed the smooth boat ride out to our spot in the Everglades National Park. Fished in several spots & got fish at them all.

Find a captain that cares. Be careful of booking thru resorts. We’ve had bad experiences.
Nathan Standeford
As long as you listen to your guide you’re going to have a great time and catch a lot of fish
Mario Barroso
Try for different varieties of fish, having a knowledge guide as we did improves your success.
Scott Rosenberg
Be sure to know what species are biting at particular times of the year if you have a specific target fish
Tom Winton
Yes, lots of fish so long as the captain knows where to go and is mindful of what the customers need/want.
Alex Bollman
Winds can turn certain bites on or off day to day. However, it’s not the sport fishing capital of the world for no reason. I doubt you’ll find a bad boat and crew in any marina fleet.
Ryan Phares
We missed the Wahoo by a couple of days, they will be short in trail of the kingfish we hooked up with today
George Bird
Aside from the cold front coming through the day before and making for some choppy water, the fishing was great!!! Next to zero down time between fish.
Bailey Massa
Expect windy conditions and slower moving fish. They are definitely out there to be caught! And don’t expect to catch tarpon if the water temps are lower.
David Armstrong
Bring non-slip shoes/wet shoes, sunscreen, a hat, if you wear glasses get Eyewear retainers, aqua friendly pants/shirt, a windbreaker/rain jacket, a sandwich and drink.

Book with Captain Easy on the Easy Does It and bring some of your catch to the restaurant with you and let them cook it up for dinner.
Thomas Suermann
Reef fishing is in the Ocean side so the water can be choppy. Take Meclizine the night before if you are worried about getting sea sick.
Elvira Usinowicz
Take the two hour backwater tour with Captain Jason Katsikas! Your guaranteed a great time and to catch lots of fish!
Peter Vitale
Lots of tarpon moving around the mangrove islands in October. A live shrimp, or a DOA shrimp is a great bait for the tarpon.

Plenty of sunscreen and be prepared to hunt for fish on the move. Offshore definitely preferable to bottom fishing this time of year.

Take your catch to Lazy Days restaurant in Islamorada and they will cook your catch for you I recommend getting it prepared Lazy Days style.

Observe and take in the unique beauty of the area. We caught good fish, but also saw porpoise, sharks, stingrays, crocodiles, osprey, pelicans, shorebirds and an eagle. Awesome experience.

Enjoy the overall experience and remember it's Fishing not Catching. Getting a hot bite is not guaranteed but a bonus.

Our charter with captain Trentin out of Bud n Mary’s marina was outstanding. Put us on great fish and was a pleasure to be with. Highly recommend.

Hot and not a lot big fish in July, so tamper expectations of huge fish and get excited about good eating fish that range in the 5 lbs range. Still a lot of fight in the fish
