What would you recommend to anglers fishing in Galveston, Texas for the first time?

Go with a independent small business guide that fishes daily and can put you on the fish. Don't waste time and money on large charter companies that just want to be grossly! overpaid for a boat ride.

If it’s summer time head deep for the snapper, in the fall and winter hit those Jetties and keep those lines TIGHT!

Go early in the morning in August, Be patient and flexible. Having a great attitude is the best. Enjoy the moment and experience.

Make sure details specified for your trip are accurate before loading on your boat ask if your boat is mechanically in tune for your trip l.

Perfect if it’s your first time captain was really hands on and helped out teaching and catching!

I would say get captain Brad I fish alot and this was one of my funnest trips,not only did we catch fish but he was professional and knowledgeable.

Really bad fishing for this time of year, too hot and too clear water. Let's hope fall will be great!!!

Seems like common sense but make sure you have sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, dont have your phone where it could fall in the water, and listen to the captain ?

Summer fishing in July is rough as the hot water makes the fish not bite as much. Going to come back when the weather is cooler.

It was hot which is the only reason it doesn’t get 5 stars….. but come on it’s Texas in July, it’s gonna be hot. Hotels were very close

Go in the spring or fall the fish seem to bite better. Summer time is hot and they’re slow to bite

You need a fishing license for everyone over 17. We bought ours the day before at academy sport (one day license). Sunscreen (not the spray one) is recommended and definitely a hat!!!

Definitely take Dramamine and hydrate. It’s very hot and you will want to start taking lots of water the day before.

Manage your expectations - it's fishing...so even if everyone does everything right...the fish may not deliver.

Be patient, relax and enjoy it! The experience of fishing itself is wonderful, and when you catch a keeper that’s the bonus!

We were told that fishing gets even better after July 15 when the shrimp boats are allowed out, so if possible future fishers might factor that into deciding when to schedule their fishing trips.

The only thing I would recommend is maybe bringing some waterproof clothing, you know how Galveston weather is.

Wear enough sun screen and take plenty of drinks. It gets hot out there. Also get ready to take lots of videos and pictures.

Weather can play a roll in your time. We booked two days. Was good one day and a little slower the next. Booking with a charter was easy and not stressful.

Go with a charter. Weather and tide can change from day to day. We choose two days. One day it was hot on fish and one day was slow. You just never know.

I think the time of day and month of year make a difference along with of course the weather. But we still had a great time on this trip.

Take plenty of water and request captain Colton and his deckhand Logan. They made our trip amazing

I would try the full day trip if You want to catch a variety of fish. We caught snapper, sharks and redfish.

June can be a little early for red drum but a little late for other quality fish. It’s a good time to catch sharks.

Wear decent shoes on the boat, no sandals. You'll be moving around and rolling with waves all day. Take some Dramamine even if you think you won't need it. (First time ever needing it?).

If you have the time and money go out for a deep sea fishing trip for red snapper some of the best fish you will ever take home.

Be prepared to ask a bunch of questions to r guess what to do next even if you inform them that you’re a noob. Be prepared for sea sickness, it can come and go easily.
