We caught the fish we were told were likely on half day trip. Would have like to have caught Grouper, Snapper
and some larger fish but our expectations were met. Children would be OK depending on age and patience level for 4 hours, but longer might not work. Beware the sun and reflected sun -- hat, long sleeves and pants, sunscreen, protect ears and nose. Food and drink provided a plus. Follow instructions of charter co. on arrival/payment details. Keep company informed of changes in head count.

Remember Dramamine just in case, and eat the fresh catch. Fresh fish is the best.

Make sure you have a captain who knows where the fish are and is willing to move you around to get them. Jefe would be our first choice.

Yes. The volume of fish can be plentiful, albeit smaller fish. Options for larger fish exist, but may be less plentiful. Each angler's decision to make.

Tell your Captain EXACTLY what kind of fishing experience you want. Otherwise, they can putter around the Bay and just catch basic fish. Not a high skill level. Croakers are everywhere.

See Capt. Jaimez at Pelican fishing charter He was really great one of the best days I have had in a long time. Caught so many fish and the trip was 1st rate.

Schedule your trip well in advance and give yourself flexibility in the Spring forrl for inclimate weather.

Go out with El Jefe! He'll put you on the fish right away and keep you there. He's very patient with newbies.

Dress for the weather. So thankful we had layers including hats and gloves. The wind kicked up and we were able to stay comfortable and keep fishing
