What would you recommend to anglers fishing in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida for the first time?

Speaking with the boat captain while on the water, it seems we are a couple weeks behind the hot season for some species and a couple weeks early for some others. Maybe this is a dead spot for fishing ?

Ask the local bait shops questions if you want to gear up for your trip as they are so friendly and helpful or ask your charter captain questions to help you become a better fisherman while you are on the boat.

Pay attention to weather forecasts for wind. It may effect your comfortability for motion and stableness.

Dress in layers and sip water and wear a hat that ties down and get ready to catch some fish and have fun!

Fishing can be slow sometimes when a cold front moves in, but can pick up at a moment's notice.

The recent cold snap and super low tide prevented us from having great conditions.

Weather is a little chilly and the fish seem to be a little dormant but the scenery and the company are great!

I highly recommend Captain Justin to my fellow angers. He is very Knowledgeable and knows which spots the fish are biting. He brought refreshments and fillet the fish for us. I give him 10/10

Unusual in that there had just been a hurricane nearby, but I would say a knowledgeable guide makes all the difference. I tried some surf casting in my own and about got beat to death BY the surf!

It’s fun being out there early in the morning but many people are fishing so the fish aren’t super active. Other than that, it’s great!

Fishing in April is hit or miss depending on the weather. If it's cold and rainy the fishing will be difficult

Bring cold weather gear, especially for children, if the temperatures are in or blow the low 70’s. Boat ride wind gets real chilly, real fast.

We had a great trip with Captain Ryan. Came at the right time, the right place, caught a bunch of fish!Can't recommend him enough!

It was an extremely tough day of fishing. Captain and boat were excellent. I hope to return next year and take the same trip.

It was a great time and we know fishing is fishing but the little fish (I cannot remember what they were called) kept stealing our bait. They were a bit of a menace.

Well it was our first time, so if any thing, I would say just enjoy the whole experience.

Google maps is a little off so plan for additional time to find where you are going.

Set your expectations and communicate to the Captain- this is a very pleasant bay to fish in.

We fished in the Bay, water was too warm. Very few fish caught in the bay that day.

I would suggest going in the morning. As the day goes on, it gets hot so be prepared.

If you fish in April, be prepared for possible cooler temperatures and dress in layers.

Listen to the local charter captains. They know the local waterways, conditions and patterns.
