What would you recommend to anglers fishing in Apalachicola, Florida for the first time?

We were new to the area and booked a random fishing trip. We have a 7 year old and 9 year old boy very new to this kind of fishing. Captain John kept these boys baited and in the water catching trout after trout! He then noticed the fish had slowed and took us to an island to cool of and collect awesome shells and hermit crabs(even gave us a bag to collect with). Then, we docked at little st George and toured it for a bit. He told us about a pond with gators and we saw 4 or 5 babies! Then, he took us to see a couple dolphins that got within a couple feet of boat and blew up at us! Then, we followed him back to his house and he cut and cleaned and bagged our fish. He recommended a restaurant that’ll cook them for us and it was delicious. All of these charters are NOT the same! Book this guy and be done with it! He was great! Thanks again John! While we caught more fish than we expected, not all were keepers. Just remember that the Captain is doing his best to put you on the fish but can't guarantee that you will catch big fish (or any fish at all). Also keep in mind that the time of year we went (in October) many fish are not in season, so we only went after fish species we could catch and eat.

If you decide to book a trip on the bay in July, you need to be prepared to endure the extreme heat and direct sunlight. Personally, I was not bothered by the climate conditions; however, the kids on the boat were affected by the heat. The fishing was slow on the day that we went out, but I have done other trips in the Apalachicola Bay during this time of the year and had better success. Our captain did a great job of moving us around in search of target species, it was just tough to find them on this particular day.

Good amount of fish caught. Most not what you would keep to eat I think wrong time of year for that. Weather was nice got cool at night bring a jacket for the ride home. Did catch some we could have kept chose not to.

Marcus is a fantastic captain. He knows where the fish are going to be and we caught an incredible variety of species. It was a fun, relaxing and productive fishing experience just as we had hoped. We laughed at how many different types of fish we were catching. It was quite surprising.

Be ready to catch fish, be ready to reel fast. If you don't the sharks will eat your catch and you will loose your line . By the time we were done we were exhausted from all the catching we did. We did a 6hr trip about 45 min off shore.. We will go back this time of year again.

Due to unstable spring weather in this area ie: high winds, stained bay waters I highly recommend choosing an off shore charter ( greater than 9 miles out) for clear blue off shore waters to fish in. From June until the end of regulation season Snapper and Grouper fishing can't be beat!

Weather is always tough in November you are at the end of the season so be careful

Go to Apalachicola to caught big redfish and eat great oysters. Check out Indian Pass Raw Bar while you are in the area!

I would recommend highly Hooked Charters! I've been fishing The Forgotten Coast for more than fifty years. Captain Dwayne and Jeff are excellent at your enjoyment of fishing. Take A Kid Fishing!

Listen to what the Captain recommends doing, you may have to move several times, wether and tide make a huge difference

Highly recommend the morning charter for the kids - we caught plenty of fish in the first two hours before it got hot and they got restless.

Bring some Sun screen and a few cold drinks. You can catch a lot of fish fishing in the bay if you are unsure about going out into the ocean.

Go for tripletail in the bays, or hit the oyster bars and grass for redfish and trout. Great fishery

Getting an experienced Captain…it’s a real community of anglers there. Everyone looking out for everyone and giving everyone a great experience!

Go with the flow. The fish that are running are as dynamo as the wind. There are plenty of sport and eating fish in these waters.

Be prepared with multiple layers as the wind chill can be very cold. From 50 degrees to 76 degrees in hours.

We fish here annually in early March. Fishing varies year to year depending on local weather conditions. I would prefer to come later in the month but I don’t have flexibility in my schedule.

Bring appropriate clothing, getting wet is possible and wet and cold is miserable and dangerous. Otherwise listen to the Capt. And leave the bananas at the dock!

Pay attention to the weather, and keep in touch with your Captain until your trip. You will be satisfied.

Give Tideline Charters a call! Wayne Cook was great. Early morning fishing when the weather is clear and the water calm is your best bet. Or right after a rain!

It was good but they had alot of bad storms role in the week we were there making conditions a little rough.

Book an inshore trip with someone like captain Ron or try light tackle woth shrimp or sand fleas along the beach shoreline.

When we talked to the Capt, he mentioned that this time of the year is a 50/50 chance. The water didn't get warm enough for the fish to start to flow. But it was nice for my first time.

The heat and the rain limited our live bait. And fish were biting, but not later in the day.

Yes, it was our 1st time off shore fishing and we all agreed we had a good time and would go again.

Be prepared to be hot unless you fish early or late. And the weather can change quickly.

If you're prepared for sun and heat, you'll be fine, as the fish are still there and active.

Do not fish in the bay unless you want to only catch white trout. Go in the gulf.
