What would you recommend to anglers fishing in Port O'Connor, Texas for the first time?

I highly recommend coming here around this time of year. You always here “ we went out but didn’t catch anything”. Well that wasn’t the case here. We caught fish the entire time we were here and got to take back enough food for a large fish fry. We will definitely be back.

Pay close attention to the type of boat the guide has. you want a flat boat if you are fishing in the grassy areas in the bay

We’ve had other successful trips to Port O’Connor. It’s not a place to fish from the shore or pier. Be prepared to wade fish or go out in a boat. We enjoy the area.

Go fishing with Keith Gregory’s Guide Service and you will have a great time because he knows some great spots to fish and you will have every opportunity to catch the Red fish.

August is the worst month! We were up against a full moon and an out going tide the night before derailed us.

We caught a large amount of mangro snapper and used live shrimp amongst other forms of bait. The shrimp was one of the easiest for the kids to bait themselves

Be prepared for an awesome and exciting experienced with this company. The captain is very friendly, fun to fish with. We really enjoyed his excellent of service.

Overall fishing in Port O'Connor is very successful. But please be careful if you bring your own boat, the topo maps on most GPSS are off. The last hurricane really change the area.

Port O'Connor has a unique Bay system that have many areas to fish. Book a room a Poco Loco Lodge ; nice place.

Be ready for some cooler weather than you think, but fishing in Port O'Connor on a crappy day is better than fishing anywhere else!

Be aware that this is a fishing town. Not much else to do and restaurants are limited.

Go on the trip well rested. Don't forget your sunglasses and take a few extra pair.

Try to time your trip around good weather. When the conditions are right, it can be great.
