Capt Andrew's FishTales is a great outfit. They work hard to put you on fish (but it's not guaranteed - its Fishing, not Catching!). Been going with them every year since my son was little - in the Channel and caught tons of Spot and Croakers and everyone was happy. Now that he's adult, we go offshore (Sea Bass mostly) and recently tried a Shark trip (No sharks were harmed, but we still had a great trip!). Capt's Andrew, Jed, and Chris are all great, and do everything they can to ensure your comfort, safety, and success. The fish have other ideas... Don't hesitate to book with FishTales. Just be sure to explain your expectations and what you want from the trip and they will help make it happen. Best charter on Chincoteague Island, IMO.

Our experience was unique given the outgoing tropical storm and lower than normal water temperatures. However the views where fantastic and the ride out to the fishing spots definitely scratched the itch for some sea spray and time underway

End of season fishing for flounder water is getting too warm and a storm kicked up the bay but we caught some small striped bass(rock), sea trout and spot. But what a surprise when I hooked a 4 ft. Dusky Shark which really put up quite a fight. I had never experienced anything quite like that and Captain Tim talked me through it until I finally got the shark to the side of the boat for him to lift into the boat ...Wow!!

The captain and first mate were great. The fish didn’t want to cooperate fully but fish were caught by everyone aboard. Seeing the crab pots worked and then going into the flat to dig clams were also good experiences. So don’t be afraid of trying the afternoon adventure.

Chincoteague has all of the charm of a small beach town island without the presumptuous and stiffy entitlement that comes along with many other beach towns. The fisherman of Chincoteague are salt of the Earth type people who are kind, helpful, and will bend over backward to make your day on the water memorable!

Many of the fish species are migratory, so good to check ahead of time and know what to expect. No matter the fishing, it is still nice to get out on the water. A bad day fishing is still a pretty good day.

I have fished Chincoteague from pier, shore, rented boat, and by charter. If you are looking to be on the fish quickly go with a local charter like Captain Tim of Chincoteague Bay Adventures. He knows where the fish are and what baits are working. You will spend less time fishing and more time catching!

The trip was great, but May is not a good time. The fishing is slow, but before May and after May would be great. We happened to be right in between the right times to go. However, the weather and the boat ride were beautiful.

We came at a transition time between the summer and fall fish season. But we did catch fish. It was fun nonetheless.

Perfect weather and day for fishing, however the fish weren’t biting at this time. Great time to be out on the water…

Having fished in this place over the past 20 years it is always feast or famine.

Weather held out with overcast skies and some drizzle...so perfect! Keeping to the flounder idea was key just to make sure the kids had a great time (and adults did too!)

Try to come out when it is not as windy. It reduces waves. Understand, though you may not catch what you aim for or expect, it is still a fun experience.

Check the tides and find a reputable captain who's hooked into the local fishing spots. Great place and time of year to fish in the bay or from the piers. My favorite place overall!

It was thought to catch what we were looking for. The Captain and mate were upfront with the possibility of not catching targeted fish due to weather. But we still had fun and enjoyed the trip.

It is a hit or miss with fishing in late July through the end of August. Normally most of the flounder have moved out but the croaker are moving in so you should be able to find them and have fun.

I only read it at three only because of the weather change the fishing pattern in new aren't able to get out into the good fishing areas maybe next time

Definitely try to go later on in June or august when the water is warmer but overall was amazing time

If you are just looking for flounder try to make your trip early in the year.
Around April/May. It’s cold then but the fish seem to be a little more plentiful.

Might wait till the waters warm up a bit. But then the crowds will be there too. We enjoyed the quieter waters.

Good variety of fish to bring up. Croaker, pigfish, fluke, spot, kingfish. Keeps your lines tugging while you wait for the shark line to pull.

Call captain Tim he will make sure you have meat to take home and you’ll have a good time

No guarantees in November, but we had an amazing trip with amazing success! TY Capt Tim!
