Originally from the Chicagoland area, he started guiding charters in and around Port Charlotte, FL in 2005. He says "I found warm weather and great fishing here with lots of wildlife, so I stayed." What he loves most about guiding charters is seeing the look on a customer's face when they land an amazing catch.

In the bay sheep head are the hot button. Trout, Jacks, and some Red Fish. Out in the gulf the season open up and we now have available Snapper, Key West Grunts, Trigger, and Tripple Tail. Grouper ( red only) 20 inches or over. Action is Good Weather is the only thing holding us from getting the fish. Winds must be 10 mph or less or winds from the East is best.

Where's the FISH? Well I have been in 50 feet of water and done well. I have also been in 2 ft. of water and have also done well. The trick is to go were the "red" tide isn't. Look for clear water and no mirk on top. Use live bait and cut bait to be successful.

Half Day Trip - Bay Fishing

The captain did everything possible to get us on fish. Wind on the gulf left us trying to pull fish out of the mangrove trees. We had a great time and a couple great meals from the fish we worked for. I will go again. There is always a little luck involved when you go fishing. Go as often as you can and enjoy.

Doug as you know it was a testing day. We did see some of the remote places in the bay. All and all we had a great time, looking forward till next time. Thank You Captain Terry.

He was ready when we got to the boat ramp. Pleasant and fun to be with. He answered all of our questions. Worked hard to find fish by moving to different spots. And worked hard to help us catch fish including staying out longer.

Had a wonderful experience.. Weather was off. Cold Rainy Windy and Cloudy. Fish wouldn’t hit. Captain Terry Heller pulled all stops to work his magic. We came up with Spanish Mackerell. Jack and Catfish, several Red Fish including a tourney sized prized.
