- Captain Tom Briggs is a Minnesota native. When he was 3, Tom moved to Gull Lake in Lakeshore and spent the next three decades exploring the beautiful outdoors of northern Minnesota. He learned about boats and what it took to care for various types of watercraft on the lake. At the age of 12, Tom landed a job at Koep’s bait shop, where he learned the ropes from the likes of big names in the Nisswa Guide League. Together with his lifelong friend Kevin Koep aka Fish Lips, they learned everything about the fishing world. Later, Tom expanded his knowledge base and included Alaska to his fishing repertoire. During the next “phases” of his life, Tom owned a resort and also worked for one of the family businesses before realizing that fishing was his true calling. The rest is history!
