Make sure your captain is very knowledgeable. Alfonso took us to a few different spots and we also let us jig- not just trolling.

Be patient and have realistic expectations. September is one of the slower months for fishing so don't expect to catch fish one after another. It could be an hour or two between fish. That is fishing! Just enjoy the ride, enjoy the scenery, and be ready for when the bite is on.

Our trip was early September and got a wahoo which was early for catching one. They know how to get mahi for sure, we got several.

I would get some anti-nausea meds for the boat. It’s rough but that is normal. I don’t get motion sickness and I’m glad I got some meds to ease the trip.

The way out to the fishing spot can be kind of rough. If you get seasick easily, bring Dramamine. The way out is against the waves for about an hour, but that makes you earn it.

The captain was very responsive and easy to work with from time of booking to cleaning the fish! I would recommend the charter as they know the waters and seasonal fishing in July. We caught fish on the 1st cast and hit until the bite was done, all the other boats followed our lead this day!

It’s rough this time but the top water bite is great. Take the morning if possible as our guide said the mornings were almost always better this time of year.
