Although the area appears a bit untidy due to the age of the marina, don’t be fooled by first impressions. The charter is first rate and the docks are well kept. Lake Erie is hardly ever the smoothest of lakes so be ready to be bounced around by the waves.

The area has many seasons targeting different species but from what I’ve seen, it’s a top tier fishery for trout and salmon and any David angler should try to get out on the water here.

But bring some extra storage bags if you want to split up the fish once they are done...bring a cooler to bring home fish in...our Captain had ice for us to put in our cooler, but we brought packs just in case they didn't. Don't forget your fishing license. Plan ahead on knowing what the weather would be like. We knew there would be rain, but our Captain was on top of the pattern and we stayed clear of it. Be ready to have fun.

Just enjoy yourself and the views. The fish don’t alway hit right away. The views are amazing and you never know what you’ll see.

If you are fishing in the Lake Placid area, Saranac Lake is better in August. That is where we went as it was recommended by our guide.

Zach's bass boat is not for children, and for anyone not ready to fish. He doesn't have toilet facilities so the boat would have to return to the dock for bathroom breaks for women.

Go early. It is very quiet until mid morning but then the jet ski’s and waterskiing begins. We shifted to quieter spots but some had to be abandoned when the boating picked up.

I had to stay overnight. There is a small motel in Albion, NY. The next town (South) is Batavia NY and there are several chain hotels there.

The Walleye fishing is amazing in July. There was a Walleye tournament going on while we were fishing but plenty of room for everyone

Wear fishing overalls and snow boots. Hooks are tricky so bring gloves/first aid kit. The fish/bait remnants flew everywhere. In preparation, avoid eating fried, heavy foods, alcohol. Sleep early the day before.

The weather was great this time of year! Locally the food was on point and beautiful scenery! Overall a great town to visit in New York State!

Bring snacks, sandwiches, liquids and water to stay hydrated. Don't forget the sunscreen and a roll of paper towels.
