Lake Ontario Salmon fishing charters are the best of the best. These pink-fleshed fish are the lake’s shining stars, and you can hook into them on both sides of the border. Explore the fisheries in upstate New York and Southern Ontario to hook yourself a “royal” treat!

Chinook (also called King) Salmon are the number one target anglers come here for. You’ll also have the opportunity to hook into their silvery cousins, Coho Salmon. There are two distinct times and places to fish for them. In the spring and summer, head into the lake itself. These are cold water fish, so they’ll keep moving further offshore as the waters warm.
 

In the fall, turn your attention to the lake’s many tributaries. This is game time! The Salmon are moving into the river mouths to spawn, which is when they’re at their biggest and most aggressive. You’ll find Chinook and Coho Salmon in nearly all of the surrounding waterways from early September through early November.

Your window to hook Salmon is small, as these fish are only around for a short period of time. As such, a full day trip is more than worth it. Lake Ontario is one of the best Salmon fisheries on the east coast and you’re going to want to take advantage of every minute you can spend here.

There are many great fishing spots to depart from in search of Chinook and Coho. If you’re fishing the tributaries in the fall, head to the Salmon and Oswego Rivers in upstate New York. If you’re fishing the other side of the border, Port Credit and Toronto are excellent locations to visit.
