After being advised by the captain that August isn't optimal for Walleye fishing in Vermillion, we still managed to bring in a big catch!

The giants you hear about in Lake Erie are sparse in the area this time of the year with their migration pattern but we still limited out.

August fishing can't be expected to be consistently excellent. We were very fortunate that it was very good.

Many charters expect you to take fish to local businesses to be cleaned, or do yourself. However there is a really nice cleaning station at mazurik fishing access.

Weather was great. Bring a jacket for the morning but don’t need it all day.

Remember to bring money for cleaning the fish if you want that done. Saved us a lot of cooler space and having to find somewhere to put the rest of the carcasses

Fishing was great. We caught some really large Walleye, measured at 28”.

If you’re going for walleye in July I think it’s best to get off the dock by 6 am.

Great fishing, in the mid-summer expect to catch a majority of walleye between 18-23”, but there is always that chance at a Lake Erie monster. You will also get a few sheepshead and possible perch here and there.

Expect to troll and get some rod bending action! The graph had fish marks the entire time while fishing and we never went more than 15 minutes without getting a bite. Expect to catch a lot of walleye in the 15-22” range during July. The perch bite also starts to pick up in July.

Take a charter and learn how to fish the lake. It is an amazing lake if you know how to fish it.

Not sure about all of Conneaut, but the fishing with Ted was good. He was very friendly and easy going captain. Catching was good but Ted made the experience good. The fishing was pretty good I'd say we were in fish for 4.5 hours. Most were average size, caught a couple really nice ones. Overall a good trip and experience.
