Angeln in Eufaula Lake

Lake Eufaula needs no introduction, especially if you’re an Oklahoman, born and raised. This gorgeous lake is also well-known as the largest lake in the Sooner State. And with hundreds of miles of shoreline and abundant waters to explore, the fishing Lake Eufaula boasts shouldn’t be missed.

Also known as the “Gentle Giant,” the lake is the home of dozens of freshwater species that both locals and visitors love to target. Crappie are by far the favorite catch, closely followed by various Bass species (Largemouth, Smallmouth, White, Striped) and Sunfish. If you’re looking for a bigger, more formidable opponent, then Catfishing should be on your to-do list.

Fishing on the lake is open year-round, so there’s a professional guide to take you whenever you decide to pop by. Spend a couple of hours fishing for Catfish and Bass with your family or dedicate a full day to your fishing efforts and catch plenty of Crappie to fill your freezer with delicious fish fillets.

With such outstanding angling opportunities, it only makes sense that Lake Eufaula hosts around 15 fishing tournaments every year. Whether you’d like to test your hand at competitive Bass fishing in August or if you want to try and beat last year’s Crappie record, you’re in for a good time.

There are several boat ramps where you can find your guide, including the one in the Lake Eufaula State Park. There’s also the main boat ramp, Lake Eufaula Marina, and Graves Creek Boat Ramp. In whichever part of the lake you’re fishing, there’ll be a ramp of a dock nearby.

Regeln & Vorschriften

Whether you’re fishing with a charter or on your own, you need to buy a fishing license before you go fishing on Lake Eufaula. Make sure you’re familiar with limits and other regulations before you hit the water.

Eufaula Lake Angelsaisonen

January
It can get quite cold on Lake Eufaula in January but fear not, you can cast your line from one of the heated docks. Crappie don’t care about the cold, so you’ll have a great time reeling in these delicious fellas.
February
Cold days are still very much a thing in Oklahoma, but all you need to do is dress well and head out. Crappie are always hungry and, at this time of year, if you find one, you’ll probably find many.
March
Nature is waking up, and with it, all the fish that have been lethargic over the winter. Anything from White Bass to White Crappie is on the cards, and let’s not forget about Catfish, that are also resurfacing.
April
If there’s a time to check out the fishing Lake Eufaula has to offer, it’s April. Crappie fishing is at its peak, and anglers from all over the country come here to catch their share of fish. Largemouth Bass are very hungry, so you can go for a mixed bag.
May
Spring might be the busiest and most productive time on the lake because you can hook just about anything you set your mind to. Largemouth and Smallmouth Bass, Crappie, Sunfish – they’re all up for grabs.
June
Striped Bass are a very popular catch in June, along with Blue and Channel Catfish that are spawning at the beginning of the month. The Crappie bite is as good as ever, and if you need even more variety, there’s plenty of Bass species to choose from.
July
Hot weather lures out all kinds of Sunfish, as well as Catfish, and this is the time to head out if you’re looking for a trophy. To catch a lot of sunfish, cast your line close to shorelines and around docks.
August
Whether it’s Redear, Green Sunfish, or Bluegill you’re after, you’ll have plenty to do on Lake Eufaula in August. Sure, it’s hot, but if you rise and shine, it will pay off because you might hook good Smallmouth close to the shoreline.
September
The temperatures are slowly going down, which makes the lake a true fishing paradise. Everything is available – from Catfish and White Bass to Crappie and Sunfish, just cast your line and be ready for a battle.
October
Look for Black Crappie in the clear patches of the lake. Sunfish usually congregate around wooden underwater structures and, if you’re teaching your kids to fish, then Sunfish the perfect prey.
November
Bass and Catfish are moving to the deeper waters to steer clear from the cold, but you can still catch them if you know where to go. Crappie are out and about, so there won’t be a dull moment on the water.
December
Make the most of every tolerable day and head to the lake for some adrenaline-pumping Crappie fishing. You can even bring the whole family, just go to one of the heated docks and you’ll have a blast.
