For someone who's never fish the rockport area, I would definitely hire a fishing guide. Captain Tony Gonzales is a very experience guide, and will put you on the fish.

Be open to what kind of fish you’re going to catch because sometimes you are going to hit on the ones you aren’t planning on.

Weather that day was very windy, but it wasn't the day before, so it's just hit and miss on the weather like any other time of the year.

Weather can be great or not so great in March and that can affect the fishing.

I chose this fishing trip on reviews and location. There are a lot out there. I didn’t take the first one that popped up. Worked to my benefit.

Come prepared to catch fish, bring chest waders if possible or at least wading boots if the water is warm enough

Pick and choose your captain carefully, Captain John is a "keeper " and a very safe boat captain ,everything was provided for me , let's fish !

Hire a guide. They know the waters, the fish and the good spots. Great time saver and recipe for success.

Come prepared with regular necessities, ie, sunglasses, light snacks, drinks, etc., but definitely look ahead at weather conditions… when it rains on the coast, it pours!! Don’t forget raincoats!

Weekdays has less boat traffic than weekends. Sep tends to still be hot--take plenty of sunscreen and stay hydrated.

This was super easy in and out and didn't have to ride in the boat for half hour to start fishing and to get to multiple spots. Liked all of that. What surprised me was how far down to Corpus from Rockport it was. Question your guide ahead about what he goes after and is he flexible and what is biting lately. Always good to have proper expectations. Aransas Pass not the most scenic with a good bit of refinery shoreline but hey, good fishing

Guides are invaluable in getting to the variety of fish species that come and go throughout the year in the Rockport area.

Get a good charter, they know the water and can help point out the good spots. Captain Smiley is a great option, friendly and very knowledgeable.

Make sure you wear sunscreen and take a hat. Don’t get in too big a hurry. Fishing takes patience. Enjoy the time on the water!!

Employ a guided trip. The bay is large and and shallow, you will need help navigating to the hot spots.

Take plenty of water and sun coverage. Maybe a raincoat cause you never know.

A fishing hat and plenty of sunscreen. Too hot for babies or small children.
