Home to the largest fishing fleet on Long Island, Captree boasts some of the best angling action in New York state. This stunning state park looks out onto productive bays and offers access to the deep waters of the Atlantic. It’s no surprise that there are plenty of Captree fishing charters ready to take you out, and it’s something you must do when you visit!
The bays just out of Captree house some of the most sought-after inshore fish in the country. Delicious Flounder, Seabass, Weakfish, Tautog, and Scup rub shoulders with bigger creatures such as Bluefish and monster Striped Bass – who sometimes steal the show. That’s not all, though. Head beyond Fire Island to the deep waters offshore where Sharks, Mahi Mahi, Tuna, and even Marlin can be found.
Captree fishing charters cater to anglers of all skill levels and ages. You can find family-friendly half day trips, on which you can also try crabbing. Meanwhile, the more adventurous among you can spend a full day on the water. If you want to go offshore, then you’ll want at least an eight hour trip, if not longer!
The main Captree fishing fleet is based right next to the state park’s parking lot, giving you easy access when you cross over from the mainland. However, there are also marinas over on Fire Island, or along the state park towards the big city. If you’re on the mainland, Babylon is a great starting point to explore these rich waters.
