For an adrenaline rush, the Gulf waters will provide you with excellent fishing for Red Snapper, Grouper, Amberjack, Mackerel, Mahi Mahi, and Cobia.

With a variety of trips on offer, Port Charlotte has something to suit anyone’s taste. Half day trips will see you exploring the shallow waters close to the shore, while heading out to the Gulf will require at least a full day trip. With a myriad of options, you can have an adventure of a lifetime kayaking around the sounds, fly fishing for Tarpon, and enjoying scenic sights of herons, manatees, and egrets.

This is a great time to hit up the rivers and sounds for some nice Snook. Redfish, Mangrove Snapper, Pompano, and Sheepshead are all biting as well.

February

The Sheepshead bite is hot around the Charlotte Harbor, the rivers and creeks are full of Snook and Crappie. Redfish is a great target further down the sound towards the Boca Grande Pass.

March

As spring slowly wakes up the waters, grassy areas are a great place to target some Trout and Redfish. Early Tarpon is a possible sighting as well, so keep your eyes wide open!

April

With the Tarpon season upon us, this is a great opportunity for some early action-packed fun! Inshore waters will provide you with great fishing for Trout and Snook, and offshore waters hide some trophy bottom dwellers.

May

The Tarpon bite is hot, so make sure to use this time to reel in a big one on the fly for a great fishing experience. You can also try to find structure and catch some trophy Snook.

June

With the opening of the Snapper season, challenge yourself to a day of seeking out these delicious hard-fighting fish. Head out a little further and have a great time trolling for Kingfish.

July

Summer’s knocking on the door, and the fishing opportunities are blossoming. Inshore you’ll find Snook, Crappie, Bass, and Tarpon, while bottom fishing offshore will yield great catches such as Snapper, Grouper, and Amberjack.

August

Bass, Bream, and Crappie are great targets around the Peace and Myakka Rivers, while inshore you’ll find Tarpon and Trout. An offshore trip will see you landing Amberjack, Kingfish, Snapper, Grouper, and Mahi Mahi.

September

With summer coming to an end, Redfish come out to play! Reel in this prized fish for a great day on the water, with Tarpon still a possibility. Offshore waters are brimming with Kingfish.

October

October is a great time to head out and fill the boat with Redfish, Trout, and Snook, so an inshore adventure is a blast. Grouper, Kingfish, and Amberjack are all biting offshore, so you can head out further for some more action.

November

Redfish and Trout are biting like crazy in the harbor waters, so you’re spoilt for choice in November. You can visit some local honey holes for Snook, and Cobia will put up a good fight as well.

December

With the holiday season upon us, head out on an early vacation and have fun reeling in Redfish, Speckled Trout, Black Drum, Sheepshead, and Snook. Further offshore you can expect to find Amberjack, and some late-season Mackerel.
