Frequently Asked Questions about Fishing Charters in Loreto
Angeln in Loreto
Miles away from anywhere, the stunning town of Loreto is like a world of its own. With rocky structures sticking out of the crystal blue waters as you look towards the islands, you’ll be in dreamland before you even think of the fishing. But don’t forget about it! The town’s namesake National Marine Park is home to over 800 fish and marine species, so rest assured that you’re in for a treat when you discover what Loreto, Mexico, fishing is all about!
There’s no way we could list all the fish you could find here, but some true Mexican favorites top the list of targeted species. You’ll find Roosterfish, Cubera Snapper, Jack Crevalle, and Broomtail Grouper close to shore. Head a little further out and Mahi Mahi, Yellowfin Tuna, and Yellowtail Amberjack are the name of the game. And that’s not all! Blue Marlin and Sailfish round off the prized list of species on offer, giving you the chance to land a trophy catch.
The Loreto fishing scene is open 365 days a year, so there’s never a bad time to come and visit. While it is possible to spend a few hours on the water, most captains prefer to spend at least six hours on the water, with the majority of trips lasting a full day. And you should, too! What better way to get the most out of your fishing adventure than by targeting as many fish as possible, and heading back to shore with a cooler full and a trophy to your name?
Every angler casting a line out of Loreto will need to purchase a Mexico sportfishing license. Some captains will provide them for everyone on board but, if yours doesn’t, it’s not a hassle to get one. Grab yours online or at the dock before embarking on your charter, and you’ll be fishing within the law.
