In Küstennähe
In den Buchten und Flussmündungen wird, zwischen Dezember und April, meist nach Jack Crevalle, Snook und Roosterfish geangelt. Die See kann in diesem Zeitraum sehr rauh sein und starke Winde herrsche vor, weshalb die Angelausflüge von der Nicoya-Halbinsel, bis zur Grenze zu Nicaragua meist in Küstennähe bleiben. Rekordfänge für drei verschiedene Arten von Snook sprechen hier für sich.
Einen der besten Fischgründe der Welt für Tarpun finden Sie im karibischen Meer auf der Ostseite des Landes. Zwischen Parismina und Barra del Colorado können Sie diesen spektakulären Fischen das ganze Jahr über nachstellen. Die Höhepunkte der Tarpunaktivität sind zwischen Februar bis Mai und von September bis Oktober.

Im Juni steigt die Aktivität der pelagischen Raubfische stark an und von Häfen wie Flamingo und Tamarindo aus können Sie das Spektakel voll genießen. Zu dieser Zeit landen Sie Fächerfisch, Marlin, Thunfisch und Mahi Mahi alle an einem Tag.

In Küstennähe
An den Riffen hier finden Sie Cubera Schnapper, Amberjack und Zackenbarsch. Zwischen Juni bis Oktober herrscht meist regnerisches Wetter, was viele Fischerboote in der Nähe der Küste hält.
Hochsee
Wie im Norden des Landes, stehen auch im Süden Fächerfische auf dem Plan. Der Schwerpunkt der Saison liegt hier zwischen Dezember bis April, da die Bedingungen ruhiger sind. Von Juni bis Oktober können Sie ebenfalls Speerfische fangen, aber die meisten Kapitäne bleiben in dieser Zeit meist in der Küstennähe. Im Mai und im November sind die Angelbedingungen im ganzen Land hervorragend.
Angeln im Süßwasser
Im Süßwasser begegnen Sie dem Guapote, dem Leopardenbuntbarsch.Er kommt in Costa Rica, Honduras und Nicaragua vor und ist kräftig im Drill. Für einen Ausflug der anderen Art besuchen Sie die Laguna de Arenal am Fuße des Arenal, dem aktivsten Vulkan des Landes.

Angler in Costa Rica benötigen immer eine Angelerlaubnis. Diese kann online auf der Webseite des Instituts für Fischerei und Aquakultur (INCOPESCA), oder bei örtlichen Büros der selben Einrichtung erworben werden. Die Angellizenz kann im Preis des Angelausfluges enthalten sein. Fragen Sie vor der Reise am besten Ihren Angelführer oder Kapitän danach.

It was a very hot and humid day on March 13. Make sure to eat something before the trip or take snacks. People that aren't used to the culture might not always enjoy what the boat has to offer for snacks/meals.

Great communication from the team from the get go including a date change. Everything was easy including captain and deckhand, they were super fast at rigging set ups. We caught heaps of tuna, mahi and grouper. The dolphins are amazing to see especially when they come so close to the boat! I highly recommend capullo, I would be out again tomorrow if I could be!

We had a great time on our trip! We knew the fishing was slow because of a storm the previous days, and the crew was very honest with us about that. Still, we ended up catching three yellowfish tuna. The crew was very nice. Milton and Mario really know what they're doing. Our fish were fileted for us on the boat, and we had some really good sandwiches from the crew. We saw hundreds of dolphins as well! Overall a great day.

Captain Ricardo and first mate Christian are excellent! Ricardo is a good coach and is patient. He knew i wanted to check the Rooster Fish box and set out immediately to pursue the fish i wanted most. I went 2 for 4 on the Roosters. He did not waste time in any spot which was unproductive for more than 20-30 minutes and found the fish. A great day, 2 Roosters, 1 large Jack, and 2 Black Tips. We dropped at least 3 big Spanish Mackerel.

We would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a cheaper fishing charter option in tamarindo - we were looking and this was one of the best priced guides for this location. And it was sooooo worth the price. We caught a 150 pound nursing shark and fought it for an hour and a half. We also got 1 tuna for dinner!

Taxi boat on the beach promptly at 6am, ran I think 8-10mi out and started fishing. They just had us on the fish constantly. 7 line spread. Nice abundant amount of teasers. From the tower spotting the pods of dolphins and putting us on Yellowfin all-day. Overall just a really great group to fish with. Plenty of laughing and smiles all around. Highly recommend!

We really enjoyed this trip. Jose and his helper worked very well together to make sure we had a great trip. A couple of Jose's friends were out in other boats and they didn't catch anything. I'm glad we were with Jose so my husband could reel in his sail fish.

Captain Ricardo and Christian made our experience in Costa Rica 10x better than it might have been! We were able to catch. A big wahoo and a very big sail fish (released the sailfish), in tough windy conditions. It was a great day.

We had an amazing day out on this boat. The open bow made for much more room than most boats. Also a very smooth ride on the water. Captain did nothing but try to get us into fish, and we were successful. Highly recommend this boat, we will book again.

We had a great time. Captain Jorge knew just where to go and how long to stay before moving on. It was only a 5 hour trip, but we ended up with 8 really good sized snappers, 2 of which were enormous Cubera Snapper. We also got into some Jack Crevelle which were fun to catch.

Captain (Luis) was super experienced, friendly and took care of us. Hooked into a large mahi mahi and they helped me guide in the 50lb fish with ease (but I was sweating).
We had a few other hookups (including a marlin) but didn’t get them in
If I’m ever in the area again, I’m booking Luis and his mates!
