We booked a last minute trip to Alaska to visit an ailing family member. I couldn’t come without squeezing at least one day at fishing in. So, on such short notice and without a lot of time to plan I just picked a guide at random. Fate must have been smiling on me because I don’t think I could have picked a better guide with months of research. Brandon was an excellent guide and showed me an incredible time on the river. I will definitely do it again if I make it back this way any time soon.

We took a full day fishing trip down the river with Captain Mike and his dog Merle. He did a great job teaching two beginners how to fly fish and we caught on super quickly. We fished for salmon and trout and fished multiple techniques to get the fish to bite. It rained a majority of the time and was a slow day on the water but that’s not the Captain’s fault (that’s fishing). The views were still incredible! Mike did everything he could to help us catch fish. At the end of the day we each landed on the board, but wish we caught more. Again, that’s fishing. Highly recommend this trip and would definitely come back again. Mike is great and knew his shit. Merle was a fantastic dog. Thanks Mike!

Did this trip July 2, 2023. The river was up and swift, so it was a slow day fishing. We pulled in one rainbow that was about 20”.  Brandon was great trying to put us on some fish given the conditions. This was my first fishing trip in Alaska, and Brandon was acting like a tour guide as much as a fishing guide, gladly answering all our questions about the wildlife/fishing locally, and pointing out things like Dall sheep in the mountains. It was a beautiful float and we saw a lot of eagles along the way. When you book a guided trip the hope is that the fish are hitting hard, but that aside the quality of the guide and the communication beforehand was spot on in my opinion. I would definitely book with Kenai River Trout Anglers again.

Great experience with Brandon. He showed great patience and guidance with my high school buddy (not a fisherman) so he could fully enjoy the experience. We landed 10 trout in all, with one Leopard Rainbow which I never heard of. In addition to great river fishing and commentary, we floated right under a majestic Bald Eagle. Can not recommend Kenai River Trout Anglers high enough. Brandon was tops!

Absolutely incredible experience! Top notch tackle and gear, fish were very active and biting well! The landscape itself is breathtaking! Krister was a fantastic teacher and very knowledgeable of the river! You can really tell he absolutely loves what he does! It was my first time fly fishing and I was making great casts and catching fish well in no time!  Thankyou for an incredible adventure!
