Jake is amazing and is one of the most knowledgeable, passionate, soulful captains we have ever fished with; he is SALTY!  I’m a female from NJ who brought my 13 year old son and 16 year old niece and Jake treated us with respect, professionalism, and taught us about these waters of the Keys.  We booked 8-4 and loved it.  Heart and soul went into this boat for the love of fishing.  We caught a 50lb Black Eye Tuna, 3 shark, a Barracuda, yellow fin snapper and 5 other species I cannot recall the name. We ate a few bites of our freshly caught tuna right on the boat and had yellow tail ceviche for dinner.  We also went Lobstering for our first time,  Challenging sport, kind of like noodling with a net and tickle stick (look it up).  The chilled pineapple that Jake cut up for us was amazing.  If you love fishing and spending a day on the beautiful blue water, Salt and Sun is great.  Actually, Jake is great and his boat is Salt and Sun was our little bit of awesome for Easter 2024!

Jake was an awesome captain for our family of 5. He connected with our teens and made sure everyone had as many fish as possible during our 1/2 day reef trip. We went from constant catches then got out a bit deeper and a big one hit…a shark. He let my son man the rod the whole hour (!) it took, as Jake guided. Not only that, while that big one was on, Jake kept everyone else catching. (That was a cherry on top and it would have been great without that unexpected big catch.) We will be booking with Jake again!

My family and I had a great fishing experience with Captain Jake aboard the Saltnsun.  There were six of us, all adults, which I believe is the maximum number that Capn Jake takes fishing aboard the Saltnsun.  Capn Jake is very personable and everyone loved him.  He made you feel at ease and right at home. It is just Capn Jake, no other deck hands, but let me tell you he is the hardest working man in show business!  He was all over that boat baiting hooks, taking fish off, getting lines untangled.  He kept us fishing the entire time.  When we go back we will be fishing with Capn Jake!  And oh by the way, best music play list ever for guys and gals alike of all ages.

We did our research and selected a reef fishing trip with Captain Jake from other reviews. He did not disappoint. Our group had the absolute best time. Not only was Captain Jake knowledgeable of the waters surround the keys, he was accommodating and patient, he had a phenomenal play list and knew all the best fishing spots to have us catching fish in no time. We caught Bahia, King Mackerel, Shark, Moral Eels and Yellow Tail. Legend has, it we hooked an approximate 500lb shark which gave us a heck of a fight, but it bit through the line before we could capture it…(true story, actual size may vary since we never could see it) Jake helped create priceless memories for us and our 13 year old boys. We would highly recommend Jake and Salt N Sun the next time you are in the Marathon area!

Our 4 hour fishing trip with Captain Jake was a highlight of our spring break. Captain Jake was adaptable and attentive to our experience level. Our 9 year old son loves fishing but was a little cautious at first for ocean fishing, Jake helped ease him to the experience. We were pleased to catch many varieties of fish including rainbow wrasse, red grouper, black grouper, yellowtail snapper, green moray and a couple other varieties. We would definitely book another trip with SaltnSun. Highly recommend Captain Jake especially with all of his fishing experience!
