We had a fantastic time with Captain Kevin and First Mate Jack on a half day charter while of Spring Break this week.  They were both extremely knowledgeable, really friendly, super helpful and could not have been more accommodating to our group - 2 adults and 3 kids (ages 9-14).  Most important Captain Kevin was willing to target all types of fish at all times… We caught our fill of bottom fish, a King Mackerel and two Goliath Grouper!!!  Oh and a massive shark ripped off a line!  Would highly recommend Captain Kevin and Jack, and will definitely be booking them for our next trip!!!

4 adults and 2 teenagers. Even though the weather was crap and couldn’t make it to the offshore like we planned captain gave us option to do inshore at edge of ocean for 4 hrs at lesser rate. Was a great day and everyone enjoyed and caught fish. Towards end of trip we got into the blue fish and had a lot of fun catching them. We will be back to do an offshore trip on next vacation. Captain Kevin and first mate Jack do a great job of keeping fresh bait on hooks.

We booked a quick 4 hour morning trip with Captain Kevin. Kevin is a real fisherman and had all of the necessary tackle and tactics to catch fish. Even though it was a shirt trip we managed to limit out on Black Fin tuna by 9 am.
Also caught a 40 lb AmberJack that we threw back. Ended up with more than enough tuna fillets for us and friends. Kevin and mate were very courteous and professional and we would definitely book them again for our next trip.

I have spent 10 years shopping for a charter boat that provided the experience that I (and our group) wanted, and Harrison Chew Charters delivered. 

First off, our group consisted of older fisherman (healthy 70 year olds), 2 of which were women.  We needed a boat with a toilet (head), and also needed a captain that would be willing to accommodate our needs.  Mission Accomplished!

Secondly, I could spend all day pulling Vermillion Snapper off the bottom of the ocean, it has been difficult to find a captain who was willing to do this type of fishing.  Most of the captains I spoke with would say something along the lines of, “yes, we can do that, but what you really want is big game fishing.”  Captain Kevin was different, he said, “Yes, we will definitely pull Vermillion Snapper, off the bottom of the ocean, but I think we should try catching Tuna in the morning, then transition to Vermillion Snapper later in the day.”  My 71 year old dad, pulled in the biggest fish of the day, a 15.5 pound Tuna!  It was a great advice, our group had a blast, and we took home more fish than we can eat. 

Finally, all of the nuts and bolts of the operation were super smooth and helpful, the boat and dock were incredibly easy to find (I didn’t have to search a port that was a half mile long looking for a boat that looked like all the rest of the boats).  Booking and payment were also a breeze.  Your search for a charter should end right here with Captain Kevin.

I have been coming to Florida for the last few years and have been searching for “the guide” to live up to expectations.  I know its “fishing and not catching”, but I have been searching for the experience of what a guided trip should be.  Captain Kevin has set the bar so high that I refuse to look for another guide on future trips on the Space Coast.
He was very communicative in the days leading up to our trip and was already planning to make our trip the best he could make it.  To start he asked if we were able to move up our trip one day earlier so that we would be fishing before a major cold front moved in.  Second he asked if we would like additional bait that had been hard to acquire in the area and ensured that we had what we needed the day of the trip.  This just eased my mind that Captain Kevin prioritized the expectations of his clients rather than just doing the bare minimum.

On the morning of our trip Captain Kevin and mate Jack already had the boat and all rods set up before we showed up, which was 20 minutes before our scheduled time.  This showed that this was going to be a professional trip.  As we boarded for the 8 hour trip I was asked what species I would like to target.  Being from northern NY I have limited saltwater experience but had a “bucket list” of fish that I would like to catch.

Not 2 hours into the trip I was scrambling to update my list because we had already hit five different species.  This is were Captain Kevin excelled beyond every other Captain I have been with, he was not satisfied with staying on one type of fish or one style.  He continually asked what we wanted to do and without hesitation went above and beyond to surpass our expectations.  I jokingly said I wanted to catch fish that would kick my butt and I was humbly eating my words before the day was over.  I was sore after we limited out on amber jacks, then jokingly said “I was ready for more”, only to then be told to get ready and caught my dream fish a very large Goliath grouper.  The rest of the trip we would move from point to point as soon as fishing slowed and Captain Kevin was never satisfied with what we “had caught” but was concerned with what is going to be next. 

If you are looking for a guide that will treat you like family and not just a paycheck I would highly recommend Harrison’s chew.  Captain Kevin and mate Jack will treat you like they have known you their entire lives, I have never laughed so much and had as good of time on any guided trip that I have previsouly been on.  Even if we did not catch anything like many of the other boats that day, I would still not hesitate to book another 8 hour charter.
