Top Notch Charters came through for us!  We were a family that have done a few charters throughout the years coming back with no fish.  Darren and his first mate Cody made sure history didn’t repeat itself.  They had more lines out than we had ever seen in some of our other charters.  They were making adjustments throughout the trip to ensure we had the best opportunity for the fish who bite.  We came home with 4 large lake trout and a rainbow trout!  On top of it all they were absolutely incredible with our 11 year old son.  This will be a trip that he never forgets! They were patient and supportive as he worked to reel in his fish.

My 14 yo daughter loves fishing and eating salmon. We asked her where she wanted to go on vacation and she picked Wisconsin to go fishing! Booked immediately 9 months in advance. We stayed at the Harbor Winds Hotel overnight and walked 1 block to the dock in the morning. Met Capt Darren Meier at 4:45am on a cloudy Monday June 26th. Just me and my daughter on the boat along with the captain and first mate. The boat is huge and had a toilet on board and a couch and chairs inside to sit on. Lines were in the water by 5:30am and we caught our first Chinook salmon by 6am. Then another, then a rainbow trout, then a 20 minute fight with a 20lb King Chinook Salmon! My arm hurt by the end of that one! Then another 10+ pounder and that was already too much fish as we were only in WI (from Florida) for 1 week and I only wanted to keep what we could eat in a week. At 8:30am I told the Capt let’s wrap up early as it was raining continuously and even though I knew we would keep catching more, we had more than we could eat already. Back at the dock the fish was filleted and put in bags and we put it in a cooler bag, walked to the nearby liquor store and got 2 styrofoam coolers and 20 lbs of ice. Drove to our next destination and I cut it up further into cookable portion sizes and put the fish into ziplock freezer bags.  Half of it we put in a deep freezer to give away later and the other half we ate the rest of the week! We had pan seared trout, grilled salmon and maple ginger glazed baked salmon. I literally ate pounds of salmon and cooked for 6 people, Delicious! Sheboygan is a beautiful town. Awesome vacation! Totally recommend Top Notch charter!

Thank you Captain Darren and First Mate Cody for making this a FUN filled, memorable family trip!
We booked an 8 hour charter with our 3 kids.
Captain and Cody were very welcoming and informative but not stifling with forced conversations.
We caught 2 fish pretty quickly and then there was a lull for a few hours ………. no nibbles …… 
Captain Darren and Cody tried VERY hard to help catch fish ( trying different lures, etc…) and they were stumped why they weren’t biting.
My husband and I really appreciated their efforts and we were all having fun nonetheless.
Then my husband went into our cooler and offered everyone a banana.
Cody and Darren exchanged glances and shook their heads. They told us bananas are bad luck for fishing.
My husband and I had a real good laugh at this superstition and ate all the bananas and tossed out the peels.
Ten minutes later, my son caught a King Salmon, and then another, and another - 6 fish pretty quickly!
Darren and Cody were great helping the kids reel them in.

Long story short: Captain Darren and Cody were wonderful and tried hard to make this a great experience for our family and they SUCCEEDED!
Fish or no fish, we all had fun!

Just remember: 1) DON’T BRING BANANAS!
