We had an excellent trip on Mystic Marlin. The crew were very friendly and knowledgeable. We were lucky enough to get into a group of Yellowfin Tuna and had 3 fish on lines at once at one point. They fought like crazy and we ended up catching 4 Tuna. On the way into the marina a friendly Cabo sea lion jumped up on the back of the boat and we fed him our leftover bait. This was the icing on the cake. We asked Captain Johnny where we could take the fish to have for dinner and he took us to La Chatita. We dropped 2 of the fish off and made a reservation. The dishes they made with the Tuna was out of this world, so many different methods of preparing it. This was hands down the best meal of our trip. Highly recommend this trip!!

We left the dock, the wind was a little more than I’d like.  The water was choppy with white caps in the early morning and I thought to myself that it would be a rough day catching any fish, let an alone, stripped Marlin.  We had our first strike but lost the fish.  Second strike and we hooked up 2 marlins.  The one I land (35 mins) was about 150 lbs, the second one we released to fight another day (too small).  3rd strike, I land a 100 lbs (20 mins).  It was a great day for fishing.  Moral of this review is don’t underestimate the Captain and crew of Mystic Marlin.  They’re gonna get you fish no matter the conditions.  I will be a repeat customer.  Gracias.

First time deep sea fishing with my 2 teenage kids & my son caught a marlin! I highly recommend Johnny & his 28’ boat, Mystic Marlin, and his crew! Johnny welcomed me & my kids at station #5 and we were taken great care for our 5 hr excursion including helping us get the fishing licenses and live bait (bring cash).
The crew mainly spoke Spanish but that did not matter, especially when guiding my son with reeling in the fiercely strong marlin from getting away.  It was an unexpected and incredible experience that we will never forget! The crew was absolutely amazing and knew exactly what to do!
Upon arriving back to the marina, Johnny helped us with what to do with our huge & beautiful marlin, whether to have it made into a trophy or have it filet and frozen to transport it on a plane.  We chose to have it transported & Johnny was with us as a guide and translator.  Johnny is truly a nice guy & made sure that all my questions were answered. My kids and I have a great appreciation for sport fishing now and I would definitely charter Johnny’s Mystic Marlin again!

The captain did not make the half-day (pm) trip with us but his designated crewmen were very capable. They knew the area that our targeted fish were located and we caught 2 large Mahi-Mahi in short time. To and from the marina we went around the scenic Cabo Arch area and got an unexpected up-close encounter with a pair of whales.

Johnny was great at communicating! He wasn’t part of the crew, but put us on his boat with a great one.  We were told “good luck” catching fish in the afternoon. We hit our limit in an hour and half.  I would say this captain is a magician (El Mago).  He’s like a character out of a movie navigating this boat and using his technique to catch el dorado like no other.  Fantastic time!!  Thanks again.
