Booked 4-hr deep sea fishing trip with Captain Cachas. He did not disappoint! Captain C is a 4th generation Cayman Island local who knows everything there is to know about local fishing. Caught 3 nice barracuda fish. While we had hoped for an exciting catch like wahoo, tuna, or mahi mahi, they just weren’t biting. Capt. C worked very hard to make sure that we caught something & had and enjoyable time on the water. Other boats that were out reported no catches so we were thrilled to have reeled in 3 barracudas. What a great afternoon/evening of fishing we had with Jah Bless Charters! we caught several snappers and grunts, but the best was saved for last. Our son caught a 55 lb Tarpon as we were getting ready to call ot a night. We are going out again with Captain Cachas on Wednesday for some deep sea fishing and cant wait to see what well catch. We highly recommend Jah Bless and Captain Cachas to anyone that is looking for a private charter not only for fishing, but also snorkeling, conch diving or Stingray City.

Arrived for one day on a cruise and booked a half day private charter with Captain Cachas “SuperC” Stewart. Had a fantastic day which he customized to our wishes. Perfect activity for anyone in port on a cruise or staying on the island for a visit.

Transportation was easy. Caught a taxi upon arrival at port on a tender. $28 for a private taxi (don’t wait for the $6 shared ride). About a 15 minute drive. When we returned, C had a taxi waiting for us at the yacht club to take us back ($32).

As for the trip, it was a fully customized, phenomenal experience. We started at Sting Ray City to pet and feed the Sting Rays. C was able to get one and brought it over to us to play with on our own. Very different from the large tour groups who had to try to get an experience on their own, but mostly watched.

Then we went to Starfish Point where we saw some starfish; then on to the Coral Garden where it felt like we were snorkeling in an aquarium. C dropped chum over the side where we were floating and the fish and sting rays swarmed around us.

Finally, ended the day doing some bottom fishing for grunts and snapper using simple squid on a hook. Wife caught about 8 fish, and it seemed like she was pulling one up on every cast. Then C dove for a couple conch which he proceeded to crack. He gave us the shell as a souvenir, but unfortunately it was confiscated by the cruise ship crew when we boarded (they do not allow fresh shells on board, only processed ones from the gift shops).

If you are a family of 4-6, it is a great experience, especially for kids. Way better than the group tours, and depending on the size of your group, it is less expensive than taking a cruise excursion. If you make the effort to get off the ship early, you will beat all the crowds to the great spots.

C knows all the great places and customizes the trip to what you want to do and how long you want to spend at each location. He also knows all the local tour guides and works with them to make sure you get a great spot at each of the locations.

I contacted the captain and asked him about the wind. Knowing the seas were very rough. He was honest with me, saying the ocean is not good that day and he recommended Trolling and reef fishing. We killed it on the troll and reef fishing was off the hook no stop keepers. The captain was great with the my kids. Very polite overall a wonderful experience. I am a very polite

Captain Cachas really gave my family a warm Caymanian welcome to fishing. From pickup, he gave us a rundown of our day and what kind of fish we were to look for. He accommodated all of our questions. He was very patient with my family, especially given the different levels of experience with fishing among us. Best of all, just when we thought we were down on our luck, we caught two fish towards the end of our trip! This was great for us, especially with two young kids hoping to get a catch. Captain Cachas is experienced and you and your family will be in great hands with him! My family would look forward to fishing with him again next time we visit CI!
