I will keep it simple… we were fishing for hours all morning with no luck. When it our time was up and we needed to head back the Cap asked, “do you want to stay out longer and see if we can get lucky?”. I agreed and asked how much more I would need to pay. Cap said “Nothing. I just want you and your son to catch something”. 30 min later my son reeled in a huge blue marlin. Then 15min later another big hit and just like that my son got his second marlin. There are no guarantees in life or fishing, but I guarantees these guys want you to catch fish and will work their tails off to make it happen (pun intended)

Our family had a fantastic experience with the Five Star crew! Gabe and Nico were attentive and on point all day, and good company spending time together. Capt. Rubin showed obvious expertise, and had a strong command and guidance on the approach and actions of the team, which changed throughout the day.
After catching a rare spearfish and a wonderful blue marlin (both by teenage sons), they were still fishing hard! They went out of their way to use live bait and target some Mahi they spotted on the way back in. Sure enough, I caught a beautiful mahi, the nicest any of us in my family have ever caught.
Offshore is obviously always hit or miss depending on the circumstances, but I can say this crew will give you as good of a chance to enjoy your day as you’re likely to find out in Oahu!

Captain Ruben and 1st Mate Gabe are the go to duo for a deep sea fishing charter in Oahu. They are experienced, knowledgeable and very friendly.  We had a 4 hour private charter with them and it was the first deep sea fishing trip for one member of our group.  Gabe was very clear and thorough in getting our whole group ready.  Captain Ruben got us onto a Marlin using fresh bait he and Gabe had just caught less than an hour in to the trip. Then Captain Rubin was able to get us onto 3 Mahi Mahi later in the trip. It was a slow morning for other boats but not the Ruckus!  Captain Ruben fileted a small portion of one Mahi Mahi that for us to make ceviche in the hotel room. Even if we weren’t able to bring in the Mahi Mahi, we would have had a great experience with Captain Ruben and Gabe.

Captain Ruben and his partner pulled out all the stops today to try and locate the fish. We caught a nice Blue Marlin earlier in the trip, before the fish went quiet the rest of the day. Even so they both did everything they could to find more. It was slow for everyone all around. It’s part of fishing some days are great and some are a struggle! It was an amazing experience and adventure which I will be coming back to in the future and look forward to! Thank you!

We had an epic day on board “Ruckus” with an extremely hardworking and knowledgeable Captain and Crew.  Offshore fishing in Hawaii is a different ballgame.  We were on Wahoo in the first hour and had SIX in the box within two hours.  We understand that fishing doesn’t equal catching, so we knew we had a very special day going.  Even with a phenomenal catch on board so quickly they didn’t stop working hard to find fish.  Persistence paid off!  The Mahi bite turned on and WHAT FUN!  We had three hooked up at one time.  Through the controlled chaos these guys kept us fighting and reeling.  We lost a few (our fault not theirs) but managed to land a couple of really nice ones.  This is a day we will remember forever.  You absolutely cannot go wrong with these guys!
