If you’re looking for a fishing adventure off the coast of Puntarenas, look no further than Go Fish Costa Rica! Whether you’re new to fishing or a seasoned angler, Captain Dan Ross will take you to the best fishing spots, and share the knowledge he’s acquired in his 40 years of experience.
You’ll be fishing from a 30’ Super Panga boat made for saltwater fishing. It was originally built in 2012, and then restored in 2016. The boat has navigational equipment and outriggers, and it can take up to 4 anglers. There’s also a toilet on board, as well as an icebox where you can store your catch.
The captain and his first mate will provide you with rods, reels, and tackle, as well as live bait. If you like fly fishing, just let your captain know in advance and he’ll prepare the equipment for you. The crew will clean and fillet your catch which you can then have prepared in some of the nearby restaurants. Gratuities for the first mate are customary.
You can try light or heavy tackle, go for some trolling or bottom fishing, depending on what’s biting at the time of your trip. You can target Roosterfish, Jack Crevalle, Mahi Mahi, Tuna, Grouper, or some species of the Billfish family.
You will have snacks and drinks served on board to enjoy as you wait for the fish to start biting. Bring some sun protection so you can fully enjoy your time. Costa Rica fishing is solid throughout the year, but fish can be elusive, and some days are just better than others.
One thing is for sure – fishing these waters is fun that you should experience for yourself, so join Go Fish Costa Rica and check it out!
