JP was absolutely ON THE FISH as soon as we anchored! He knew what he was doing and not only guided us putting us on the fish, but guided us on how to catch the fish! We felt safe the entire time and loved meeting Sheila the gator while catching Peacock Bass and Oscar. As well, the next day we went 1000’ offshore catching Mahi! We’re coming back for the Peacock Bass run when they’re spawning and will definitely continue fishing South Florida with Captain JP aka Big Poppa aka the Bass Whisperer! Let’s get us some Gator Wayne’s next time!!! (Inside joke) hahaha

This was our first time fishing in the Everglades.  Captain JK is knowledgeable about fishing of course- but he also knows about the history of the place, and about all of the wildlife- plants, trees, birds.  It was so enriching- he is a great teacher- so knowledgeable but also patient and fantastic with my 14 year old. 
His boat and gear and top notch- it was great fun going super fast along the canal to the fishing spot- especially on a blazing hot August day.  Oh and the fishing?  JP took us to a favorite spot- and helped us hook into 45 fish- mostly peacock bass from 2-4 lbs.  If we were better at setting the hook- I’m sure would have caught another 20+.  The fish were there- we just needed to learn the nuances. Overall, we had a terrific time- and I would highly recommend booking with Captain JK.  He’s also a great story teller- and will leave you laughing all the way.

This was the highlight of our vacation! My husband and myself enjoy fishing back at home but we had never done a fishing charter nor do we know a lot about the fish in the area. JP had every bit of equipment you could ever ask for and is very knowledgeable about everything from all the species of fish, to the water and even the different trees and plants around. Cast after cast we were reeling in different types of fish & and catching so many that we couldn’t even take pictures of them all! But not to worry he was kind enough to take as many pictures as we asked for. He is a super friendly and fun person to be out on the beautiful waters of south Florida with. He made sure that safety was a priority but that it still felt like a great adventure we will definitely be booking with him to try one of his other locations as soon as we can get back down to Florida.
  I looked into many different charters and I’m so glad that I went with the bass whisperer. JP is a perfect guide for any level of fisherman, our next trip we will be bringing our children as well. This is definitely who you want by your side for an amazing memory that you’ll be talking about for years to come. JP really is the Bass whisper. He put us on 37 peacock bass the biggest about 5 pounds, also one 3 1/2 pound large mouth, two bowfin, one catfish, two alligator gar, two Oscars, one catfish. My son and I had the best time of our lives. Make sure you bring cash to pay him as he doesn’t except credit cards.

Capt. JP McKay provided me with a fishing experience of a lifetime. My four hour afternoon trip into the Everglades Holiday Park aboard the Black Ranger Batboat was excellent. Easy pick up launch and ever aspect of the 1/2 day adventure was perfect. Capt. JP is a true expert in guide angling. His boat The Ranger is outstandingly and technologically equipped, top notch fishing tackle, clean, comfortable, smooth with speed and agility to maneuver into the hot spots by this able Captain. His knowledge of the main channels, cut outs to the flats and placing you on the honey holes are exceptional. His guidance and fishing techniques, bait, perfect casts, proper set up and process yielded instant strikes and numerous catches. We landed nice sized multiple indigenous species; Oscars, Large Mouth Bass, various types of beautiful Peacock Bass (checked off my bucket list) and others. The action was non stop. Added bonus, Capt, JP has incredible knowledgeable about all fauna and flora that exist in the Everglades. He pointed out and identified numerous birds of prey, waterfowl and numerous Air Orchids and other vegetation. His knowledge of the history of the Everglades, discussions, examples and conversations added to the overall great day and experiences. His fishing techniques and patience teachings enhanced my fishing knowledge.
My trip was relaxing, educational and eye opening. The fishing and catching was exceptional. Capt, JP is the Bass Whisper. I give Capt. JP am 11 out of 10, I highly recommend fishing with him booking your trip with FishingBooker and I’ll do it again. Thank you Captain JP McKay.
