The day fishing with Captain Mike or as I like to call him Captain Cobia aka The Cobia Whisperer couldn’t have been any better. You’ll be using top shelf fishing gear and you’re going to need it because he puts you on the fish! Captain and crew really do everything they can to make sure you have the best time possible out on the water. Great boat, great tackle and gear, great captain and crew, and great big smiles when you’re all done, that’s what happened to me anyway.

I took my youngest on a half-day trip with Captain Mike and First Mate Mike. We didn’t catch a thing, but that wasn’t for lack of effort on their part. Captain Mike warned me ahead of time and asked if I’d like to choose a different day with better weather, but that was literally the only day I could go. They took us to four different locations, but the water was just too cold and the currents too strong. As proof that was not the best day to be fishing, we were the only boat out there other than a couple of guys working their crab pots. So I can’t compliment the crew enough for the amazing service and doing their best to help my youngest hook something. (I let them take the lead on that - I’m your guy when it comes to teaching someone how to hook treefish, rockfish, branchfish, and really anything else that’s not a fish.) They were very friendly and the boat ride was a lot of fun, though it was a bit rough for my youngest after a while. Once he got back on dry land and had some time to rest he was talking about how we’ll have to try again…when the water is nicer.

We’ll have to try again during the summer. For anyone looking for a good crew to spend time on the water with - they’re your crew.

Capt Mike had been in contact with me the few days before our trip to discuss optimal time to go out. We ended up going out in the morning. Both the capt and Wally the mate were very knowledgeable and helpful.  We caught 3 cobia - 44 in, 51in, and 54 in. We had to throw back the 51 in fish. The 3rd fish was caught on the way back in. I will definitely go out with them if I’m in the area again.

Today was my first sport fishing trip ever. Thought we’d do a half day to ease into it. Mike was thorough and well equipped. Cobia are in season in the Chesapeake Bay, so we headed out to get some. They were reluctant to play at first, so we trolled for mackerel and secured 4 little beauts. Finally spotted some Cobia and Mike and his mate helped us secure a cool 52”-er. The weather was perfect, Mike’s boat is terrific, and his service surpassed it all. Great day on the water. He cleaned and filéted our catches.

My girlfriend and I took an 8 hour trip to catch some cobia and whatever else was biting. We had a great time and Mike and his mate Wally were extremely entertaining and made the trip a lot of fun! The morning started kinda slow because of poor tide conditions, but they always made sure we were having fun. We ended up going sight fishing for cobia instead of chumming. We got on them pretty fast searching for them close to the surface! We had a great time and anytime we are in the area again we will gor sure be booking with them! Great trip, great people, and a great price!
